My Story

It all started in 2006 when my marriage fell apart and I had to make some very hard choices. I never dreamed I would be divorced, but there I was in the middle of that reality. My kids were 2, 4 and 6 years old at the time. I had two courses left to finish my degree that I had walked away from almost two decades before. I had not worked outside the home in many years and even when I did, I worked at not-for-profits, so I was not likely to be raking in the big bucks. My divorce was tumultuous and lasted almost 3 years.

Flash forward 10 years later and I finished my undergraduate degree, went on to get a masters degree and I am over 1/2 way through my 2nd masters degree. I got certified in traumatic stress studies, became a masters level yoga instructor, and I am a Rule 31 listed mediator specializing in high conflict divorce, post-divorce and custody issues. I also managed to run a marathon on every continent!

Everything you are telling yourself right now is probably untrue. No, I did not get a huge settlement in my divorce, quite the contrary. Now you might be thinking, I must have won the lottery? Nope. I did not win the lottery, inherit some long lost relatives fortune or any other story you are thinking in your head.

My story is incredible, but its one for all of us. It’s a story of hope and I want to give others the same. It is what happens when you just take each next step. You can do the same thing. Well, you probably have no desire to run a marathon on every continent, so whatever your “thing” is; you have got this!

My Mediation Style/Approach:

  • I have had the benefit of being trained by some of the finest mediators, psychologists and attorneys on the planet. (Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk and Joan Kelly, PhD and Bill Eddy to name a few)

  • I have been on the “other side of the table” so, I bring a sensitivity to how hard this process is.

  • I book 1/2 day mediations, instead of full day. I believe it better serves my clients to take our time to sort through the many decisions that need to be made in a slower manner.

  • I am a child focused mediator.

  • I am focused on saving you time, money and energy and have developed tools to help you along the process with the best outcomes.

  • I go below the line to find real livable solutions so you can move on and heal.

  • I continue to learn. I am constantly reading and staying on top of the latest trends in divorce, best practices, research and law changes so I can offer the best solutions and suggestions.

  • I think outside the box and have worked with many different types of families so I am well-equipped to offer creative solutions to try to meet your families needs. Your family is unlike any other, and so your solution should be too.
